Submitting a takedown notice
Your notice must include all of the following (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)). Incomplete notices cannot be processed and may be returned for correction.
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or, for multiple works, a representative list).
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — a direct URL is best.
- Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the right that is allegedly infringed.
Misuse warning. Submitting a knowingly false or bad-faith DMCA notice may expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
Submitting a counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe removal was the result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). Your counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it previously appeared.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your full legal name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the district where you reside (or, if outside the U.S., the Northern District of California), and consent to accept service of process from the submitter of the original notice.
On receipt of a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original submitter and may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless we receive notice that a court action has been filed.
Repeat infringers
We terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright, as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(i).
